It will be a season of upheaval for coverage of the Los Angeles Kings. Earlier in the year, the team parted ways with play-by-play man Alex Faust as the team will move to a simulcast of its games on TV and radio.
One thing that will not change is where those TV games will be seen. The team has renewed its deal with Bally Sports West.
“We thoroughly enjoy working with our friends at Bally Sports,” said Kings COO Kelly Cheeseman in a statement released Thursday evening. “We are happy this agreement maintains consistency and continues to give our stakeholders informed and intimate coverage of our hockey club.”
It is a win for Bally Sports West as the deadline nears for parent company Diamond Sports to submit a bankruptcy-exit plan.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. It is described as a “multiyear” agreement. The regional sports network will carry 63 Kings games each season.
Nick Nickson will handle play-by-play duties. Jim Fox and Daryl Evans will have roles on the broadcast as well. The audio feed of the simulcast will be heard exclusively on the iHeartRadio app.
