ESPN was able to hold onto Mina Kimes. The network re-signed its star NFL analyst to a multi-year extension earlier this month.
The renewal was not a given. ESPN faced some serious competition according to Andrew Marchand of The New York Post. He has confirmed that NFL Network made Kimes a very serious offer.
“I believe she could have made more from NFL Network,” he wrote in his “Sports+” newsletter on Monday, “but decided to stay at ESPN, where she is in the $2 million per year neighborhood.”
There is no reporting on why Kimes turned down more money to stay at ESPN. Like Kimes, NFL Network is based in Los Angeles. It seems that logistically, that marriage would have made a lot of sense.
Bristol did allow her to also do a deal with Meadowlark Media. She will make weekly appearances on The Dan Le Batard Show.
