A new book by Michael Wolff investigates what it alleges is the “downfall” of Fox News. The content of the publication has struck a chord with former Fox News host Greta Van Susteren.
In a post to X, the current Newsmax host shared she had begun reading The Fall: The End of Fox News and the Murdoch Empire by Wolff, and was saddened by its contents.
“When I left Fox 7+ yrs ago, I was stunned to read that a huge ‘drama’ had been going on in NYC headquarters (I worked in DC Bureau),” Van Susteren wrote. “And now I am an hour into (Michael Wolff’s) new book and stunned to hear what has gone on since I left. Very disappointing. I enjoyed my time there reporting and now it has so many more problems. Never ends. Very sad for those committed to doing journalism there.”
Greta Van Susteren worked at Fox News from 2002 until September 2016, when she resigned abruptly, saying the network “has not felt like a home for many years”.
Wolff’s book has come under fire in recent days. The author claims the entirety of its content is credibly sourced. However, reports claim that the contents were never fact-checked with Fox News or Fox Corp.
Additionally, Wolff has claimed he reached out to all the major players involved in the book, but both Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham have privately contended they were never contacted. Wolff also claimed that Tucker Carlson revealed to him that 2024 Presidential candidate Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) kicked his dog during a dinner at the former cable news host’s home. Carlson has vehemently denied making any such accusation.
