95.7 The Game and KNBR have been locked in a tight ratings race, with the summer book showing just how close the two San Francisco sports talk stations are in the battle for Men 25-54 listenership.
Starting in morning drive, KNBR’s Murph and Mac — hosted by Brian Murphy and Paul McCaffrey — pulled in a 3.1 share to finish 13th, which placed them ahead of 95.7 The Game’s The Morning Roast with Bonta Hill and Joe Shasky. The Game’s morning team was just three tenths of a point behind with a 2.8, which had them 15th in the market. This was a reversal from the spring book where The Game won the morning drive battle.
In middays, Steiny and Guru featuring Matt Steinmetz and Daryle ‘Guru’ Johnson registered a 3.3, 9th place ranking to finish in front of KNBR’s Papa & Lund featuring John Lund and 49ers radio voice Greg Papa. The KNBR midday show delivered a 3.2 share for the quarter, which put them in 11th place.
Turning to afternoons, Willard & Dibs featuring Mark Willard and Dan Dibley picked up another head to head victory in their second full ratings book. The Bay Area drive time duo were 9th with a 3.6, finishing ahead of KNBR’s Tolbert & Copes featuring Tom Tolbert and Adam Copeland. KNBR’s afternoon show recorded a 2.5 share, 17th place finish for the book.
Wrapping up with a look at the weekday prime and full week battles, 95.7 The Game finished 11th overall in prime with a 3.2 share. KNBR was 15th with a 2.6 share. The edge for the full week though went to KNBR, which nipped The Game 2.6 to 2.5. Those shares placed the two stations 15th and 17th respectively.
