Hall of Fame quarterback and Monday Night Football analyst Troy Aikman has talked to Tom Brady about going into the broadcast booth at FOX in 2024, and he has no doubts that the six-time Super Bowl champion will don a headset next season.
Aikman and his MNF broadcast partner Joe Buck were guests on the Sports Illustrated Media Podcast with Jimmy Traina, and Aikman was asked if Brady had given any indication of remaining committed to getting in the booth.
“I think he has every intention of doing it,” Aikman said. “I think he’s watching this year and seeing what he can pick up. I’m sure at some point, if he hasn’t already, he’ll be in the trucks or be in the booths at some of the games, watching.”
Traina praised Aikman for not holding back and pointing out players if they do something wrong on the field. Jimmy wondered if Brady would struggle with formulating similar opinions on a broadcast.
Troy said Tom’s passion on the field will carry over into the booth.
“He runs pretty hot as a competitor, we’ve seen that side of him, and he definitely has opinions on how he feels the game should be played and as a quarterback, he didn’t have much patience for it. And it’s the reason why he was able to have the career that he had,” he said.
“Part of it is finding his voice and who he’s working with and how he’s able to say what he wants to say,” Troy Aikman added. “I think every guy comes into the booth – whether you’re a coach or a former player – that feels like, ‘Hey I’m gonna educated the world on football’ and then you realize you have no time to do that. So you gotta pick your moments and now the game’s played faster than it ever has been before so you have less time. But yeah, I think he’s gonna give an honest, unvarnished opinion and I think he’s gonna be really good.”
