Reports of the Michigan Wolverines being accused of an elaborate sign-stealing operation surfaced Thursday, which rocked the college football world. 97.1 The Ticket’s Mike Valenti said it appeared to affect the preceding program on the station, as well.
To open his program Thursday, Valenti admitted that he wasn’t as knowledgeable on the subject as he would like to be. He then gave an overarching recap of the allegations.
“The reports are everywhere. I wanna listen, I wanna get edumacated (sic), and I wanna gain a better understanding of what the hell we’re dealing with here,” said Mike Valenti. “I’ll just tell you, walking out of here, Doug (Karsch) and Scott (“Gator” Anderson) looked like they saw a ghost.”
In a report from Yahoo! Sports, it is alleged that Michigan staffers or those close to the program went to games of future opponents to record signals being given by coaches to decipher for future use, which is a violation of NCAA rules. The allegations come after Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh was already suspended earlier this season for a purported violation of NCAA rules.
Doug Karsch currently serves as the radio play-by-play voice of the Michigan Wolverines, in addition to hosting middays with Anderson on 97.1 The Ticket. He shared Friday that he had spoken with Harbaugh, who vehemently defended himself from any wrongdoing allegations.
