Longtime Hawaii Broadcaster Bobby Curran Returning After Double Lung Transplant

Former longtime voice of Hawaii football and men’s basketball Bobby Curran will be making his return to the microphone later this week for the Warriors’ preseason benefit game against Saint Mary’s, over 18 months removed from his last broadcast.

Curran was diagnosed with emphysema in 2021 and underwent a successful double-lung transplant in November last year. His last play-by-play broadcast was on March 12, 2022.

Curran was hospitalized in October 2021 prior to broadcasting the Warriors game against Nevada. It was the first time Curran experienced any sort of irritation of his condition. He would return to finish the football season and call the entire men’s basketball season that year.
