The last couple of weeks for Philadelphia sports fans haven’t been ideal, and it’s evident to Mark Schlereth that fans are a bit insufferable.
On the Stinkin’ Truth Podcast, Schlereth talked about receiving hate tweets from Eagles fans while he was calling Sunday’s game against the Commanders for FOX. Philadelphia didn’t play their best game and barely beat Washington 38-31. The Eagles haven’t played their best football in recent weeks.
“People in Philly are miserable anyhow. Like that’s what they do,” Schlereth said. “I appreciate Philly. I like Philly fans because they’re 7-1 and everything with their organization is wrong right now.”
Mark Schlereth went on to add that even with one loss, fans can’t seem to find much to be positive about.
“You’re 7-1 and for Philly fans, it’s like this. For every cloud they can find the feces lining,” he said. “Like there’s a cloud, ‘I wonder what the crap lining is in that.”
Co-host Mike Evans explained that for Eagles fans, given the last six, seven years, it’s Super Bowl or bust.
“If they do not win a Super Bowl, the season is a failure,” he said. “So that’s the only way they can look at their football team. Is what they’re watching Super Bowl winning material.”
