Andraya Carter Joins College GameDay Ahead of Basketball Season

ESPN basketball analyst and reporter Andraya Carter is making history, becoming the first woman with a full-time role on the basketball edition of College GameDay.

As part of the transaction, Carter has signed a multi-year extension with the network, where she has contributed to coverage on the SEC Network and of the NBA Draft among other presentations. Carter was the recipient of the 2023 Dawn Staley Excellence in Broadcasting honor and won the award for Best Young Reporter last year from the National Sports Media Association.

According to a report by Front Office Sports, Carter will be joined by hosts Rece Davis and analysts Jay Bilas, Dan Shulman, and Seth Greenberg, along with the return of Jay Williams. Bilas and Peck have also reportedly signed multi-year extensions with the network to retain their roles on the program.

Andraya Carter worked alongside Bilas at the NBA Draft, along with NBA Countdown and NBA Today host Malika Andrews, analyst JJ Redick, and insiders Adrian Wojnarowski and Bobby Marks. While at the University of Tennessee, she played college basketball but suffered several injuries and ended up pursuing television after conversations with Maria Taylor, Carolyn Peck, and LaChina Robinson.

With the new role and contract, Carter’s role continues to expand at ESPN after a period of uncertainty prior to her time working in sports media. Throughout the 2023-24 college basketball season, ESPN is expected to broadcast more than 7,000 men’s and women’s games, including several rivalry games and presentations across Disney networks – ABC; ESPN; ESPN2; ESPNU; ESPNEWS; ACC Network; Longhorn Network and SEC Network.
