Six radio stations that are owned by Freed AM Corp. and MLS Broadcasting in Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas have ceased their operations. According to a statement within an FCC filing, “The licensee is suspending operations of this station for financial reasons.”
The move shutters ESPN 94.1 KTRG-FM in Hooks, Texas, along with FOX Sports Texarkana 1400 KKTK and 97.1 K246CR in Texarkana, Texas. In addition to the closure of the sports stations, three music outlets and a talk station have also shut their doors.
Robert Del Giorno, who owns Free AM Corp., also hosted a regionally-syndicated program titled Texas Sports Talk at KKTK. The future of that program is unknown after the announcement of the decision to shut down the outlets.
