It was announced Thursday that NewsNation will be home to the next 2024 Republican Presidential primary debate. The event will be moderated by Elizabeth Vargas, Megyn Kelly, and Eliana Johnson. Vargas shared he excitement after the news was announced.
In welcoming Kelly to Elizabeth Vargas Reports Thursday evening, the NewsNation anchor called the SiriusXM host a “veteran debate moderator”.
“I am thrilled to be working with you,” Vargas said.
“Aww. Likewise,” responded Kelly.
Kelly moderated debates during her time at Fox News, including the famously contentious Republican primary debate with Donald Trump in 2015.
During her SiriusXM show Thursday, Kelly shared that her excitement to host the debate comes from her belief that the first three events weren’t moderated to her standards.
“You can appreciate their style, but you might do it your own way. And your way is kind of how you want to see it done. Not to take anything away from all the debate moderators, but there certainly have been a couple who have been absolutely awful. That’s the truth,” Kelly said. “So I’m excited to get back out there.”
