The State of Massachusetts is considering a pilot program to examine the benefits of a four-day workweek. WEEI’s Greg Hill isn’t a fan, but also is tired of hearing about his work habits, too.
During The Greg Hill Show Tuesday, Hill and co-hosts Courtney Cox and Jermaine Wiggins discussed the topic, which Hill was against, claiming the reduction of work days disincentivizes those who work hard.
“There are a lot of people who put in 5, 6, 7 days in a week and actually want to be successful,” said Hill. “That’s why they do it. Every time I bring this up, people go ‘Well, you only work four hours a day, haha.’ I don’t only work four hours a day. All of us here work many hours. We work lots of hours. We do lots of things, but it’s not about me. It’s about you.”
Cox countered by arguing that she worked diligently while at NESN to be a team player and do what was needed to go above and beyond her job description. She added that, despite her efforts, she was never rewarded for her work. Wiggins agreed. He claimed the only reason he is on The Greg Hill Show is because of his tenure in the NFL.
“You being on this show full-time was about how hard you work and the desire you showed to be successful,” Hill said. “That’s what this was all about. It wasn’t about the fact that you played in the NFL. There are 10 guys available who played in the NFL and can do a radio show.”
“But if I hadn’t played in the NFL, that door wouldn’t have been opened,” Wiggins said. “I’d be just like everyone else trying to bust my ass on Saturdays and Sundays, and working every shift, and holidays. I did that anyway, but the NFL opened that door, and playing for the Patriots…most of the time that people put in hard work, they don’t see the fruits of their labor, because they don’t have the connections.”
