John Kincade Officially Declared Cancer-Free

John Kincade, morning host on 97.5 The Fanatic, announced on Tuesday morning that he is officially cancer-free. Following two previous bouts with the disease, he discovered that he had colon cancer and May and temporarily stepped away from the station in order to undergo surgery and subsequent treatment. Throughout the summer, he has been working on his morning show as often as possible between chemotherapy treatments and recently divulged that he was one test away from being declared cancer-free.

Since that time, Kincade has participated in the necessary tests and received word that he is officially free of the disease. Shortly after the completion of Tuesday’s edition of The John Kincade Show, the morning host made the announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, using the caption “We have a final score from Philadelphia! Kincade – 3; Cancer – 0.” Kincade will undergo his final round of chemotherapy this week and is expecting to ring the cancer-free bell on Friday.

“To my doctors [and] my nurses; to all the listeners who were kind enough to be along on this journey with me,” Kincade said, “or whether it was a tweet; whether it was an email, a phone call; whatever it was, you guys helped carry me through this.”

As part of the chemotherapy treatment, Kincade’s hair began to fall out and he began to wear hats on the simulcast of his radio show. Throughout his battle with colon cancer, people have been sending Kincade several hats and although he is thankful for the gifts, he implored people to stop sending them.

“I’m damn well tired of people sending me hats,” Kincade said. “I love you all, but no more hats.”

With his victory over colon cancer, Kincade has now beat the disease on three separate occasions – the other two being Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 1995-1996 and testicular cancer in 1997. Additionally, he has communicated the importance of receiving a colonoscopy to his listeners during the show and expressed that his only option is to survive the disease.

“They are optimistic for a full recovery based on this protocol that they’re going to put me through,” Kincade told Barrett Sports Media in a previous interview. “They believe that it has the chance to eradicate everything and give me a clean bill of health.”
