NBC Sports Agrees to Contract Extension with Notre Dame Through 2029

Notre Dame football will have a home on NBC Sports through the end of the current decade. The university and the network announced late last week that an agreement on a multi-year extension of their partnership had been reached.

NBC Sports will retain all global media rights on all platforms to Fighting Irish home football games and allows for select games to be exclusive to Peacock.

“We are thrilled to continue our historic collaboration with our partners at NBC Sports,” Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said. “In the next generation of this partnership, we will collaborate to provide our fans even more Notre Dame content through a variety of NBCUniversal’s distribution channels while continuing to put our student-athletes and their stories at the heart of our messaging.”

“With enhanced rights that allow us to present Notre Dame Football on NBC as well as across Peacock and additional platforms, we look forward to bringing the Fighting Irish to fans in more ways than ever before,” NBC Sports president Rick Cordella added.

In addition to regular season games, NBC will also have rights to other Notre Dame football-related events including the spring game and pro day.

Peacock will also be the home to a new annual Notre Dame football documentary series debuting next year. The entire Fighting Irish men’s ice hockey season will be presented exclusively on the streaming service.

Notre Dame games on NBC are averaging 5.1 million viewers this season. The Fighting Irish game against Ohio State in September averaged 10.6 million across all platforms and was the second-most watched regular season Notre Dame game on NBC since the “Game of the Century” in 1993.
