Eric Von Haessler: We Don’t Need to Do ‘Thanksgiving Stories’ Just to Have Something to Talk About

Thanksgiving often comes with generic news stories about watching your weight and eating healthy throughout the holiday. 95.5 WSB host Eric Von Haessler finds the stories boring and condescending.

During The Von Haessler Doctrine Tuesday, the Atlanta host argued that the generic stories about Thanksgiving that pop up every year are ridiculous filler content and news television and radio consumers should demand better.

“This idea that we have to be taught how to eat — have you looked around in America? People know how to eat. Have you gone to any public function in America in the last 20 years? I think you can walk away with one thing that you know firmly: Americans know how to eat,” Von Haessler said.

“Now, maybe they’re eating the wrong things, or eating things the right and the wrong way, and they’re doing it out of order. Not just Thanksgiving. This happens every day,” continued Von Haessler. “I just think that sometimes we just come around as ‘Oh, it’s Thanksgiving. Let’s do the Thanksgiving stories’, right? People, it’s not that difficult to get through the day.”
