Earlier this year, ESPN Radio revamped its morning show after cutting both Keyshawn Johnson and Max Kellerman as part of mass layoffs instituted at the company. However, Johnson never looked at his exit as if it was related to anything other than money.
In an interview with Andrew Marchand of the New York Post, Johnson shared that he knew why he was being let go.
“I understand it wasn’t based on my talent,” Johnson said. “It was probably financially for what they wanted to do as a company. I never really looked at it as if I’m no good [or] I suck.”
The 51-year-old noted that his exit was likely a blessing for him, due to his family struggling to make the move from Los Angeles to New York for his ESPN Radio gig.
Keyshawn Johnson noted that he now has relocated completely back to Los Angeles and is only 20 minutes away from the FOX Sports studios, where he regularly appears on Undisputed alongside Skip Bayless.
“In 2021, I could sense my kids were not happy in the concrete jungle,” Johnson said of New York.
