In the latest developments in the ongoing Diamond Sports Group bankruptcy proceedings, it appears that the company and MLB are going to keep their Bally Sports RSN contracts intact for another season.
According to reporting from Sportico, attorneys on Friday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Texas presented to the judge a framework agreement that will ultimately eliminate the possibility of some teams losing local TV rights during the 2024 season.
The main teams impacted by an agreement would be the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers, the Cleveland Guardians, Atlanta Braves, Detroit Tigers, and Milwaukee Brewers.
MLB had motioned to compel Diamond Sports to either accept or reject its local rights agreements by December 31, but that motion was dropped in light of the new developments.
While there are a dozen teams still under deals with Diamond Sports Group, seven of those franchises have some kind of ownership stake in their respective regional sports networks.
