Affectionately known as “The Humpman,” he has been a staple in Oklahoma sports talk for 31 years. He had been hosting his show on The Sports Animal since 2015.

Humphreys was full of gratitude in the final moments of his final show.

“I’m with three guys right now who have accomplished far more,” Humphreys said of Brad Copeland, Mark Rodgers, and Craig Fitzpatrick. “You guys are in another league for me, but I just gotta say thanks to all of you and it’s been an honor.”

As he signed off, Craig Humphreys made sure to shout out current station program director Robert “Cisco” Mueller and further thank those who paved the way.

“Cisco thank you so much,” Humphreys said. “This guy has been the best boss that I could ever imagine. He has been the greatest guy to work with, and again – and I’ve said this before but I want to repeat it. If Jay Davis didn’t take over for (Larry Bastida), I wouldn’t be here. If it was some guy that just came in from Atlanta or from somewhere else, I wouldn’t be here.”

“All of us are lucky, seriously, that we have the management, the sales team that we have, it’s more than just on-air people that make a radio station successful,” he added. “It’s guys like Jay Davis and Cisco, everyone behind the scenes. And that’s why we are lucky. I appreciate all you guys. But it’s been a good ride.”
