Six months after calling it a career, 96.7 The Ticket legend Norm Hitzges returned to the airwaves Tuesday for a great cause.
The Whataburger Normathon returned for its 23rd year. Hitzges and his colleagues at The Ticket were live at a Dallas area car dealership from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. raising money for the Austin Street Center for the Homeless.
The event has raised nearly $9 million for the center.
All-day, listeners and supporters of the center could bid on several major auction items ranging from a private lunch for eight with Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki, a fishing trip for two to Brazil, a home concert by country musician Pat Green, and a 10% ownership stake in a racehorse with no financial obligation for the animal’s care and upkeep.
Many of those items fetched bids well into the five figures.
Several guests, including Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, joined Norm Hitzges throughout the day.
