Pat McAfee Won’t Back Down From ESPN Exec; Says He Is Not Trying to Get Fired

Pat McAfee isn’t backing down in his battle against an ESPN executive he claims isn’t a fan of The Pat McAfee Show.

During the Jan. 8 edition of The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee shows his appreciation for ESPN, chairman Jimmy Pitaro, among others, but maintains his unfavorable demeanor towards one high ranking ESPN exec, Executive Senior Vice President of Studio and Event Production Norby Williamson, who McAfee says isn’t a fan of what his show does.

“A lot of people are saying I’m trying to get fired — no way,” said McAfee via OutKick. “What ESPN has been able to do for us…we’ve got nothing but love for all of these people. Now, there are certainly people we do not like, and they do not like us…and I don’t take back anything I said about said person, but the overall storyline about us and ESPN that I think people need to remember is that we’re strong…and we all understand what the future looks like, there are just some old hags who potentially don’t, but we will move forward.”

McAfee set social media ablaze on Friday afternoon following comments he made about Williamson, saying he was, “attempting to sabotage [McAfee’s] program.” McAfee accused Williamson of leaking incorrect and intentionally low ratings figures to try to paint McAfee’s show in a negative light. About this claim, McAfee said, “I am not 100% sure, that is just seemingly the only human that has the information and then somehow that information gets leaked and it’s wrong. And then it sets a narrative of what our show is.”

This beef allegedly isn’t just about ratings figures, either. McAfee brings up a negative experience with Williamson from 2018, saying,”That guy left me in his office for 45 minutes, no-showed me, in 2018. So this guy has had zero respect for me…for a long time.”

It’s clear the battle between McAfee and Williamson may still rage on, with some wondering if McAfee is already on borrowed time at ESPN.
