Yesterday, X announced it had agreed to partnerships with Don Lemon, Tulsi Gabbard, and Jim Rome to produce video shows that will be hosted on the platform. 1210 WPHT morning host Nick Kayal believes the agreements are a win for the social media platform and owner Elon Musk.
During Kayal and Company Wednesday, the Philadelphia host applauded the move from both Lemon and X’s perspective, calling it a win-win.
“Here’s a big victory, I believe, for Elon Musk, free speech absolutists, and even Don Limone (sic), as The Don Lemon Show is coming to X…Tucker Carlson of all people comes out and says ‘Congratulations, Don’,” said Kayal.
“But I would say this If you truly embrace free speech as a free speech absolutist, this is good. And I think it shows that Elon Musk is not some partisan hack…But he believes in free speech. He believes in the First Amendment. He’s also really called out big pharma and a lot of other things…I think it shows you that Twitter — or now X — is really trying to be the true town hall.
Nick Kayal continued by giving X credit for attempting to cement itself as a platform offering free speech.
“I think with Twitter, what they have done really well, is installed kind of their own fact-checkers and they allow the public to be the fact-checkers with the community notes,” said Kayal. “So if you say something that’s absolutely false, you can be community-noted as many people have.
“And I think what Twitter’s trying to do here, and I give Elon Musk credit for this, is he’s trying to break the internet cesspool of like-minded thinking where we all just kind of go into our own little echo chamber and stay in our own little community funhouse, where all we see are shared viewpoints that we agree with, whether it’s left-wing, right-wing or centrist, and I think this is a substantial move for Elon Musk.”
He concluded by giving Musk credit for partnering someone he likely disagrees with politically.
“I can’t stand Don Lemon, I think he’s a creep. Really, I do. I disagree with about 99% of the things that he says…but I think this is a good victory for Elon Musk yesterday.”
