Earlier this week, Jon Stewart announced he would return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show on a one-show-per-week basis. The schedule mimics that of MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, and Keith Olbermann doesn’t like it.
During his Countdown with Keith Olbermann podcast, the former cable news host shared that when Rachel Maddow began questioning her future with MSNBC, he advised her to simply take a year off, rather than take the Monday-only schedule she currently employs.
“Two years ago, I actually sent her a note pleading with her not to cut back to one day a week, but to take a sabbatical for a year, or even two, and return full-time as the 2024 primary season began,” Olbermann said.
Olbermann was motivated to broach the subject after discussing the return of Jon Stewart, who he shared his disdain for. The former cable news host claims Stewart holds a grudge from a 2003 episode of The Daily Show when Olbermann canceled an appearance on the program in order to host his own show for MSNBC that evening.
“If you think that feels like a long time to hold a grudge, you don’t know Jon Stewart,” Olbermann said.
