Bill O’Reilly: You Would Never See Debates Like I Used to Have With Jon Stewart Today

In the mid-2000s, Jon Stewart would regularly appear with Bill O’Reilly on his primetime Fox News program. O’Reilly believes it could never happen today.

During his O’Reilly Update Morning Edition Monday, O’Reilly discussed Stewart’s return to Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. The host called Stewart his “pal”, even if the comedian wouldn’t agree with that assessment.

O’Reilly then noted that while the two had legendary debates during his program, that ship has sailed in American culture.

“If you Google Jon Stewart Bill O’Reilly, you will see some hysterical interactions between him and me. But they were all done with good humor. And we got along very well. I saw him about six months ago. But now we live in a different country.”

The former Fox News host also argued his view that Stewart will likely see a diminished impact in his return to his former cable home.

“Comedy Central is geared toward younger Americans who are exclusively left-wing. There is no room for traditional thought. It has to be mocked,” posited O’Reilly. “Stewart will not have any problem with that. But I think he’s going to find that his exposure is going to be extremely limited to one group.”

Stewart will host The Daily Show on Mondays until the 2024 Presidential Election. He’ll also serve as an executive producer of the program during that timeframe.
