Kyle Brandt: NFL Network Contract Won’t Allow Me to Be in Sportsbooks

NFL Network’s Kyle Brandt has no idea what he’s going to do with his downtime in Las Vegas for Super Bowl LVIII.

Brandt was a guest on SI Media with Jimmy Traina where he talked about how while many of the Vegas casinos and sportsbooks will be crawling with fans and media alike during Super Bowl week, gambling of any kind is off-limits.

“I personally cannot enter a sportsbook under contract with the NFL. That’s out,” Brandt said. “I’m really, really reticent to even sit down at a card table, because I don’t want to fly too close to the sun. So the entire gambling aspect is out, as well.”

While it would probably be easy to get sucked into one of many vices Las Vegas has to offer, Brandt said it’s just best for him to steer clear of a lot of it.

“I drink and I eat, but I’m afraid honestly,” he said. “It’s really specific in the contract – I’m employed by the NFL – about gambling. I don’t even know if I can go and pull a slot machine. I probably can, but I don’t want to because everything’s on camera, and I’m not gonna get fired in this trip to Vegas for the NFL.”

“I just know there are very strict rules about gambling and sports,” Brandt added. “And obviously like, you don’t even walk into a sportsbook let alone go to the window, let alone anything.”

Kyle Brandt and Traina felt like it’s an inevitability that a story or two is likely to come out during or after the Super Bowl about members of the media getting into trouble while in Vegas. Kyle told Jimmy don’t count on his name being in the headlines.

“It’s not gonna be me. I promise you,” he said.
