Shan & RJ hosts Shan Shariff, RJ Choppy and Bobby Belt spent time this morning on 105.3 The Fan in Dallas talking about the hot topic in sports broadcasting – NFL football analysts. Specifically, the show spent several minutes breaking down some of the calls Tony Romo had this weekend, which drew criticism from fans.
As they listened to the audio from Romo, the hosts gave their opinions on whether or not the criticism was fair. Ultimately, the trio concluded Romo is more “Captain Obvious” than anything.
RJ Choppy added, “I think what these playoffs showed is that (Greg) Olsen is without question the best, and we are going to miss him.” Co-host Shan Shariff reminded Choppy this was not Olsen’s last game, it was his last game with the “one team.” Choppy replied, “That’s the only team that matters.”
Later, the conversation turned to ranking the top NFL color commentators. Choppy quickly said “Olsen, one, easy.” Shariff replied, “I’m going to go Aikman one.” Belt agreed and gave his top four, in order, “Aikman’s the best,” he said. “I think it’s Aikman, Olsen, Romo, Collinsworth.”
Choppy replied, “Olsen and the other three are garbage. The other three have not taken time to learn how the game has changed.”
