Greg Gania Named Fill-In For Detroit Tigers Radio Team on 97.1 The Ticket

The Detroit News reported Greg Gania, the current voice of the Double-A Erie SeaWolves, has been hired as the fill-in for Detroit Tigers radio broadcasts. Gania has been with the SeaWolves since 2006 and has filled in for Tigers broadcasts before.

He will now fill-in when Dan Dickerson moves over to television to cover for new Tigers TV announcer Jason Benetti. Benetti will miss between 20 and 30 games working national baseball and football contests in addition to any scheduled days off.

Benetti was hired to replace Matt Shepard on Detroit broadcasts, after Shepard was let go in October following five seasons as the play-by-play voice on television. Benetti had spent the previous eight seasons as the television voice of the Chicago White Sox.
