550 KTSA in San Antonio is mourning the loss of weekend host Duane Charping after he died unexpectedly last week at the age of 52.
Charping co-hosted Roof Talk Radio on the news/talk station, lending his expertise from being the owner of Roof Fix San Antonio and Critter Shield solar panels.
“He struggled with his mental health and it wasn’t always easy to connect on an emotional level but even through his internal battles he always strived to provide. He always sought to help those around him,” Charping’s daughter, Lindsay, wrote in a note announcing her father’s death.
“Tragically, my dad’s battle with his inner demons reached an insurmountable point, leading to his passing. As we mourn the loss of this complex and caring soul, let us also remember the positive impact he had on the lives of those around him. My father’s memory will endure through the friendships he forged and the lives he touched with his generosity.”
A GoFundMe has been launched in an effort to cover the costs of a funeral director, cremation, and a celebration. In a message on the GoFundMe site, Charping’s daughter claimed he did not wish to have a traditional funeral, and instead wanted a “big party.”
