CNN is set to announce major changes to its daily lineup in an effort to rectify sagging ratings, a report from Puck News’ Dylan Byers claims.
According to Byers, CNN will remove Phil Mattingly and Poppy Harlow from CNN This Morning. Harlow is the only original member of the embattled program still remaining. The revamped morning show debuted last year as part of a Chris Licht-led restructuring that paired Harlow, Kaitlan Collins, and Don Lemon for the show. Collins was later promoted to primetime anchor, while Lemon departed the network on the same day as Fox News primetime host Tucker Carlson in April of last year. Mattingly was named co-anchor alongside Harlow last August.
In his report, Byers claims CNN will see Kasie Hunt anchor from 5-7 AM, with a new edition of CNN News Central to air from 7-10 AM. Jim Acosta will host a one-hour show at 10 AM, followed by a new show from Pamela Brown at 11 AM.
With the moves, all morning production from CNN will now be based at its Atlanta studios.
In an email to staffers, CNN CEO Mark Thompson said, “I’m very aware that today’s announcement means a great deal of uncertainty for many valued colleagues.”
CNN This Morning is expected to end its run by the end of this month.
