WFAN host Gregg Giannotti, of Boomer & Gio on WFAN, will be one of the headliners of the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2024. New York Mets analyst Keith Hernandez will also join Giannotti in this year’s class.
Giannotti is a graduate of Bellport High School on Long Island and started as an intern at WFAN in 2005. He was hired on full-time in 2007 and hosted his first show on the station in 2008. In 2010, he left the station to help launch 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, starting in evenings and then later hosted the top-rated sports show in town.
After five years in Pittsburgh, Giannotti found his way back to New York to host mornings, nationally, on CBS Sports Radio with Brian Jones. In 2017, he was named as replacement for Craig Carton and became co-host of WFAN’s morning show with Boomer Esiason.
Hernandez was traded to the Mets in 1983 and played with them through the 1989 season, helping the team win a World Series in 1986. His No. 17 was retired by the Mets in 2022. He began broadcasting Mets games for MSG Network in 1999 and joined SNY when the network began in 2006.
