Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) raised eyebrows for comments he made on Capitol Hill Wednesday when he revealed a “popular commentator” pressured him to not to agree to a deal to fix the Southern border of the U.S. Conservative radio host Jesse Kelly is taking credit for being that person.
In a speech on the Senate floor, Lankford said, “I had a popular commentator that told me flat out, ‘If you try to move a bill that solves the border crisis during this presidential year, I will do whatever I can to destroy you. Because I do not want you to solve this during the presidential election.’
“By the way, they have been faithful to their promise, and have done everything they can to destroy me,” Lankford concluded.
The video of Lankford’s comments was published to X, which prompted Kelly to reveal he was the one who made the comments to Lankford.
“I’ll say this about James Lankford: He has great taste in radio,” Kelly wrote. “Yes, in case you’re wondering, he’s talking about me.”
Kelly did not comment further on the statement he made to Lankford, neither rebutting or rebuking the Senator for revealing the conversation on the Senate floor.
