CBS Sports Launches New Basketball Podcast ‘Beyond the Arc’; Could NBA Games Return to CBS?

CBS Sports has a new NBA podcast launching soon — could it be a harbinger of the future for the NBA’s upcoming rights deal? On Monday, Mar. 11, CBS Sports debuts Beyond the Arc, a new daily show and podcast covering all things NBA featuring co-hosts Ashley Nicole Moss, Bill Reiter, and John Gonzalez and CBS Sports basketball contributor Avery Johnson. Reiter and Gonzalez posted the news via their X accounts:

Each weekday at 2:00 PM, ET, Beyond the Arc will stream live on YouTube and be made available on all podcast platforms. The show will offer insider news and analysis, and break down all of the league’s biggest storylines with the playoffs on the horizon.

A new NBA podcast as part of a platform that hasn’t featured NBA games since 1990 may be a bit peculiar — but the NBA’s current rights deal expires at the end of the 2024-25 season. CBS may be making a move to add NBA games to its existing basketball portfolio which already includes the NCAA March Madness tournament and WNBA games. Becoming the NBA’s third broadcast partner could sync well with CBS’ current sports offerings and the NBA’s desire to stream games, of which CBS has extensive experience with Paramount+.
