On Friday morning, a reported 4.8 magnitude earthquake happened in northern New Jersey near the Pennsylvania state line. According to early reports, it was the strongest earthquake felt in New Jersey in nearly 250 years. It was the third strongest earthquake in the state on record, with the previous two happening in 1737 and 1783. The earthquake was felt by those from New York City and as far north as Massachusetts and Connecticut to as far south as Baltimore.
MLB Network’s MLB Central was live on the air as it happened. Host Robert Flores was on set with co-hosts Lauren Shehadi and Mark DeRosa along with guest Al Leiter. “Are we having an earthquake?” Flores asks. “Seriously. Are we having an earthquake. I think we’re having an earthquake…What’s going on here?…The control room is shaking, we’re shaking…This is not a bit…let’s go to break because I am leaving.”
In the clip you hear a clearly frightened Shehadi ask if everything is ok and Flores asks the production staff the same.
Meanwhile, CBS Sports Radio’s Andrew Bogush was on the air in New York and was able to give a live description of what he felt.
