760 WJR Scores 10 Wins at Michigan Association of Broadcasters ‘Best Of’ Awards

760 WJR has reason to celebrate after bringing home a total of 10 awards at the Michigan Association of Broadcasters “Best” Awards.

The station took home Radio Station of the Year honors. It also captured awards for Best Regularly Scheduled Broadcaster Personality or Team for JR Afternoons with Chris Renwick, as well as Best Morning Show Broadcast Personality or Team for JR Morning with Nick Roddy, Jaime Edmonds, Lloyd Jackson, and Guy Gordon.

“Thank you to everyone associated with the Michigan Association of Broadcasters for this tremendous honor,” 760 WJR Program Director Ann Thomas said during her Station of the Year acceptance speech Saturday evening.

“As you can imagine… because WJR is more than a hundred years old, the archives in the Golden Tower of the Fisher Building are amazing. While doing some spring cleaning the other day, I came across boxes of awards and plaques from non-profit organizations applauding our work and ‘thank you’ notes from community leaders and listeners. It reminded me that all of us here in this room stand on the shoulders of the broadcasting greats who came before us. They set the bar for excellence, and I am grateful that in 2024, the talent, producers, engineers, production, digital, and sales teams at WJR are still working to be the best in the business.”

Additionally, the station won awards for best breaking news story, best feature, best marketing materials & promos, best mini-documentary, best sports play-by-play, best special show broadcast personality or team, best sports feature, best use of new media, and best use of new media for a single project.

“What a privilege and thrill to win this award as voted by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters,” said Cumulus Detroit Regional Vice President and Market Manager Steve Finateri. “Congratulations to the entire WJR team, who bring their ‘A’ game to the radio station every single day, and to Ann Thomas, for WJR winning this prestigious honor in her first year as WJR Program Director!”
