Congratulations to SportsRadio 610 morning host Sean Pendergast who received a Media Alliance of Houston Star Award at their annual banquet. Pendergast won the 2023-24 Sports/Entertainment Specialist award for his work on Payne and Pendergast in morning drive along with partner Seth Payne.
The two hosts began their show talking about the award. Payne said the award makes Pendergast, “Basically the czar of sports and entertainment for the year.” He then got to the heart of the matter wondering if he and Producer Ben would benefit from the award. “Is this going to get Ben and I some chicks?”
Pendergast told a funny story about the professional picture he needed to have taken as a finalist. He said he was under the impression it was a head shot and wore sweatpants in addition to his nice shirt and sport coat. Turns out it was to be a full-length photo and when he accepted his award he let the others in the room know the secret about the picture they were looking at.
Pendergast told Payne about his 90-second speech and said he thanked his bosses, including Brand Manager Parker Hillis and SVP/Market Manager Sarah Frazier as well as his sponsors, his kids and his wife. “I said Amy is the perfect radio wife because she loves sports, she has a high tolerance for weird schedules and ADD. And I thanked everybody else and got off the stage.”
