The ratings battle between Sportsradio 96.7/1310 The Ticket and 105.3 The Fan remained fierce in the Dallas winter ratings book. Each sports radio station recorded wins, starting with The Ticket grabbing a first-place ranking in weekday prime (M-F, 6a-7p). According to the latest Nielsen numbers, the station produced a 10.6 share with Men 25-54. That was three-tenths of a share higher than their previous quarter.
Mornings on The Ticket featured The Musers with George Dunham, Craig Miller and Gordon Keith. The trio amassed a 12.8 share, first-place finish from 5:30a-10a. Measurements within the fall book spanned the 6a-10a CST daypart, and tabbed The Musers with a 12.2 share and first-place outcome. The co-hosts were all inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame during the fall book. They also welcomed a new producer, Jacob “Detty” Detamore.
Middays on Sportsradio 96.7/1310 The Ticket were split between The Invasion and The Sweet Spot, shows that were added following the retirement of Norm Hitzges and departures of Dan McDowell and Jake Kemp. Donovan Lewis and Matt McClearin of The Invasion, and Sean Bass and David Mino of The Sweet Spot combined during the 10a-3p CST hours to deliver a 6.9 share. That performance placed the midday programs in third-place for the quarter. The result was a full share lower than the fall book.
Afternoons with Bob Sturm, Corby Davidson and Dave Lane on The Hardline represented the station’s best quarterly finish. The show ranked first with Men 25-54 with an 11.3-share, up four-tenths from the fall book. The Hardline airs M-F 3p-7p CST.
Moving to 105.3 The Fan, the brand finished second for the quarter with an 8.4 share among Men 25-54 in weekday prime (M-F, 6a-7p). The station added one-half a share from the fall while delivering higher weekly cume than The Ticket (120,800).
In morning drive, Shan Shariff, RJ Choppy and Bobby Belt generated a 9.2 share for the quarter, equating to a second-place finish during the 5:30a-10a CST daypart. Shan & RJ improved by 2.1 shares from the fall book with Men 25-54.
The Fan scored a win in middays thanks to K&C Masterpiece. Kevin Hageland, Cory Mageors and Mike Bacsik finished second with a 7.0 share, one-tenth of a share above The Ticket from 10a-2p CST. The separation between both stations diminished though by six-tenths of a share from the fall book.
During the traditional midday hours of 10a-3p CST, The Fan was two-tenths of a share ahead. Those hour are occupied by K&C Masterpiece and the first hour of GBag Nation. Combined the two shows delivered a 7.2-share for 105.3 The Fan, three-tenths better than The Ticket. The only downside, The Fan lost 1.3 shares from the fall book during the 10a-3p CST block.
From 2p-7p CST, Gavin Dawson, Lucious Alexander, Bryan Broaddus, Eric Chiofalo and Zack Wolchuck collected a 7.7 share. That placed the program second, nearly three points behind The Ticket. GBag Nation lost seven-tenths of a share from the fall book. The Ticket dropped one-tenth during that time period.
Both afternoon drive shows saw a bump during the 3p-7p CST hours. The Fan snagged a 7.8 share, second-place finish. The Ticket enjoyed its aforementioned 11.3 share and first-place outcome. The margin between both outlets grew by eight-tenths of a share during this broadcasting window on the quarter.
Another interesting stat to pass along, 105.3 The Fan finished ahead of The Ticket in weekday prime (M-F, 6a-7p) among Men 18-49. The Fan produced a 9.0, first-place ranking. Sportsradio 96.7/1310 The Ticket garnered a 6.1 share, third-place outcome.
