Beasley Media Group has gone through a round of layoffs, reducing 7% of its workforce across the company. Included in the cuts is 97.5 The Fanatic producer and update anchor Jennifer Scordo. She was let go as was station Production Director Rhonda Hibbler.
ESPN Southwest Florida Program Director Tom Calococci, who also programmed ‘Sunny 106.3’ in Fort Myers, was another casualty of the layoffs.
Calococci posted on his Facebook account, “Radio is tough business lately, with many friends and colleagues getting laid off. Well, that train has finally stopped at my house, I am now officially unemployed. Had a great run with Beasley in Fort Myers, but I’m ready for my next challenge!”
A statement from the company said, “We are realigning our core business operations to reflect the current economic conditions in order to best serve the needs of our valued audiences, advertisers, and shareholders into the future.”
Update:
Longtime 97.5 The Fanatic host/producer Pat Egan has also been let go. Egan had been with the station for 13 years.
Egan posted on his X account, “So last night I got laid off from the Fanatic. I figured it was coming when I heard there were cuts, & the writing was on the wall when I got moved to nights.”
