Coverage of the trial of former President Donald Trump in New York has received nearly 24/7 coverage. SiriusXM and CNN host Michael Smerconish believes there is one bright spot, however: his colleague Elie Honig.
Honig, who serves as the senior legal analyst for CNN, has been a near-constant figure on the network’s coverage of the trial as the former President faces 34 felony charges of falsifying business records with the intent to commit or conceal other crimes, relating to his hush money payment of adult film actress Stormy Daniels.
While opining on the network’s coverage of the trial, Smerconish gave kudos to Honig for his ability to put the happenings of the case into digestible content for viewers.
“When Elie Honig speaks, I turn up the volume (CNN),” wrote Smerconish. “He’s the breakout star of this trial due to his no BS, unpredictable, evidence driven comments.”
The 49-year-old Honig joined CNN in 2018 after previously serving as the assistant United States attorney in the Southern District of New York. He also spent time working in the Attorney General of New Jersey’s office the deputy director of the Division of Criminal Justice.
