The regional Edward R. Murrow Awards continue to be announced, with brands like 1010 WINS and WCBS 880 in New York, KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia, and 930 WBEN in Buffalo all earning honors.
In Region 11, which encompasses New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania, 1010 WINS earned the top honor for best Breaking News Coverage in the Large Market Radio category for its coverage of rioting in Union Square.
Audacy-owned sister station KYW Newsradio took home three Regional Murrow Awards. The first was for best digital project with its “The Manhunt for an Escaped Killer” coverage of escaped inmate Danilo Cavalcante. It also won the award for Best Newcast for its coverage of the collapse of the I-95 overpass.
Additionally, it earned the top honor in the Hard News category for its coverage of drug users abusing a horse tranquilizer in a Philadelphia neighborhood.
Finally in the Large Market Radio sector, WCBS 880 Newsradio earned the prestigious award for Overall Excellence.
Meanwhile, in the Small Market Radio category, 930 WBEN in Buffalo scored the top honor for Best Podcast with its Remembering 5-14 program that examined the 2022 mass shooter event at a Buffalo grocery store.
