New Jersey 101.5 Plots Town Hall Centered on Car Thefts

As auto thefts rise, New Jersey 101.5 has announced plans for a town hall focused on educating the public on preventative measures to take to avoid being a victim.

Locked Down: Defending Your Car and Home from Theft will be heard on Thursday, May 30th at 7 PM on the Townsquare Media station. According to the state’s Attorney General’s Office, more than 16,000 vehicles were stolen in 2023, up 4% from the previous year.

The station’s Eric Scott will host the discussion. He will delve into the reasons for why the rise of car thefts and what can be done to reduce them.

“These are not teens looking for a joyride,” Scott says. “Sophisticated criminal enterprises are behind the majority of car thefts in New Jersey with proceeds being used to fund international crime and terrorism.”

The panel will include New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden, New Jersey Congressman Josh Gottheimer, and others.

The program will air live on New Jersey 101.5 and will also be available on the station’s app, YouTube channel, and Facebook page.
