The Boston Bruins are looking for a new television play-by-play voice with the retirement of Jack Edwards and Boston Globe media columnist Chad Finn wrote a column over the weekend sharing names he is hearing about for the position. This led WZLX morning man Rich Shertenlieb to post a response to the story on his X account which said, “Ryan Johnston is the only choice. Don’t overthink it NESN, hire this man.” Shertenlieb’s former partner at 98.5 The Sports Hub, Fred Toucher, reacted to that reply this morning during Toucher and Hardy.
The Finn article suggests a name at the top of the list for the Bruins is former radio announcer Dave Goucher who is with the Las Vegas Golden Nights. Toucher had an easier solution he offered on the show.
“They should put [Bruins radio announcer] Judd Sirott on television and then put Ryan Johnston on the radio,” Toucher said. “Don’t overthink it. It’s not like Sirott’s old, he could do it forever. Ryan Johnston’s not old, he could do it forever. Just there you go; I would have done it already. Dave Goucher’s not leaving. They’re not going to pay him more money than he is making in Vegas and he is not leaving Las Vegas.”
With that, Toucher then went on to turn the topic into another dig at his former partner saying, “I don’t know why Ryan Johnston doesn’t have a full-time job on the radio, especially based on things that have been happening recently. And then you put a phony-bologna tweet out about Ryan Johnston should get the TV job, why don’t you hire him?…Well then why didn’t you hire him if you love him so much…you phony prick?”
Toucher tried to get his producer and Rob ‘Hardy’ Poole to join in the conversation by asking them if this isn’t the prototypical behavior from Shertenlieb but nobody bites on it and the show moves on without further talk about the subject.
What about the bipolar toucher?
One is a Crack head.
Not typical behavior by Rich, but very typical of Toucher, which is always an a**hole. His jealousy of Rich has always been apparent, and I’m glad they are no longer together so I never have to listen to Toucher ‘s neverending stories about himself.
