ESPN baseball insider Buster Olney had his X account hacked today. Olney, who has 1.3 million followers, had his account hacked around 5 p.m. ET according to a story posted by SI. In all, the hacker sent 10 different posts from Olney’s account over a span of approximately 20 minutes.
Some of the posts were strange videos and GIFs and others were baseball news items that included the White Sox and the Phillies making a trade involving Luis Robert Jr and one saying the Mets had worked out a deal to send Francisco Lindor to Oakland.
Another post stated, “Shoehei Ohtani has been banned for life from the MLB, in connection to charges with gambling. His trial is on August 28th, it is speculated he could get life in prison.”
Another post said, “The season is cancelled due to Covid.” And one simply said, “I Hate METS.”
All of the posts have since been deleted and all appears ok with Olney’s X account, although he has yet to post anything since the incident occured.
