After noting it was open to simulcasting its Presidential Debate later this month, CNN has announced a partnership with PBS to make the event more accessible.
While the debate will be moderated by CNN hosts Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, PBS will feature shoulder programming around the event. PBS NewsHour anchors Geoff Bennett and Amna Nawaz will be on-location in the CNN studios to host coverage. Meanwhile, correspondents Lisa Desjardins, Laura Barron-Lopez, and Pamela Kirkland will add to the coverage.
Analysis for PBS will be provided by Republican strategist Kevin Madden and Democrat strategist Faiz Shakir.
The first presidential debate will be held on Thursday, June 27th at 9 PM ET. The event will be held at CNN’s Atlanta studios and will feature no live studio audience.
President Joe Biden (D) and former President Donald Trump (R) will participate in the debate. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. can still qualify for the debate should he eclipse 15% polling support before Thursday, June 20th.
