X, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, has announced plans to require a premium subscription to stream live video on the app.
“Starting soon, only Premium subscribers will be able to live stream (create live video streams) on X,” the company shared. “This includes going live from an encoder with X integration. Upgrade to Premium to continue going live.”
The timing of the implementation of the new policy was unclear. However, should the platform choose to put that policy in place, it would be the first social media app to require such a subscription.
Currently, X offers premium subscriptions for as low as $3 per month for the basic package. The premium tier costs $8, while Premium+ will cost users $16 per month.
