UNLV has announced Matt Neverett will be the football program’s new radio play-by-play announcer according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Neverett had been calling Rebel games for various sports on television for games that aired on the Silver Slate Sports & Entertainment Network.
Neverett, the son of former UNLV and current Los Angeles Dodgers announcer Tim Neverett will work with analyst Caleb Herring and sideline reporter Steve Cofield.
“I was really excited when the (opportunity) was presented to me,” Neverett told the paper. “I remember my dad doing this 20 years ago, so UNLV football has always been near and dear to my heart. It’s something I’d like to do for a long time. There has never been a more exciting time to be involved with the UNLV football program. I’m super fortunate to get involved right now. Football has always been a passion of mine.”
Neverett replaces Russ Langer who had called UNLV football games since 2012.
