The Hockey News and Yahoo Sports have joined forces in a strategic partnership that includes sharing and integrating editorial content, as well as providing exclusive video content. The agreement also entails using Yahoo Sports technology for advertising and sales initiatives on TheHockeyNews.com, including their newly built NHL team community platform.
Yahoo Sports has chosen The Hockey News as their main hockey content provider. Fans can now find a wide array of hockey coverage from a team of dedicated journalists covering every NHL team, all distributed across Yahoo Sports’ platforms.
“The Hockey News is delighted to announce this new relationship with Yahoo Sports,” said W. Graeme Roustan, owner and publisher of The Hockey News in a release. “This technical, distribution, and monetization partnership will drive ‘The Bible of Hockey’ to the next level, ensuring The Hockey News continues to be the most respected source for true hockey fans.”
TheHockeyNews.com reaches an audience of over five million monthly hockey fans and is on pace to generate more than 100 million annual video and page views for the season.
“We aim to guide fans to the best sports content from across the internet,” said Jon Shaw, Head of Revenue and Partnerships at Yahoo Sports. “This partnership enables us to significantly bolster our hockey offering at a global league and team level with the fantastic coverage The Hockey News provides.”
The Hockey News content will begin rolling out on Yahoo Sports platforms in the coming months.
