After launching a lawsuit against Fox News last month, Hunter Biden — the son of President Joe Biden — has dropped the case against the cable news outlet.
Biden originally brought the case forward after a “mock trial” series produced on the FOX Nation streaming platform in 2022 showed nude photos of the man. The lawsuit alleged that the network broke certain New York statutes, including “revenge porn” laws.
In April of this year, the network quietly removed the series from the platform after threats of a lawsuit were brought against the company.
“This entirely politically motivated lawsuit is devoid of merit. The core complaint stems from a 2022 streaming program that Mr. Biden did not complain about until sending a letter in late April 2024,” a statement from Fox News read when the lawsuit was initially filed. “The program was removed within days of the letter, in an abundance of caution, but Hunter Biden is a public figure who has been the subject of multiple investigations and is now a convicted felon.
“Consistent with the First Amendment, FOX News has accurately covered the newsworthy events of Mr. Biden’s own making, and we look forward to vindicating our rights in court.”
The dismissal of the lawsuit coincides with President Joe Biden announcing he will no longer seek re-election for the Democratic Party nomination for President in the 2024 election.
