830 WCCO meteorologist Paul Douglas has retired from the Audacy-owned Twin Cities news/talk station.
Douglas, a longtime Twin Cities weather forecasting figure, joined the station in 2017. He had previously worked at WTCN-TV in the area, which later became KARE 11, in addition to WCCO-TV from 1997 to 2008 when he was laid off. Other television stops included time spent in Chicago and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, as well as the short-lived Satellite News Channel.
“I’m retiring from radio, so I’m turning down the dial a notch,” Douglas told the Minneapolis StarTribune.
He added that he’s still deeply moved by the power of radio and the connection it gives between listeners and on-air personalities.
“Everyone consumes it differently … Everyone has a different mental picture in their mind when they listen to the broadcast,” the retiring Douglas shared.
In addition to his work at 830 WCCO, he has written a newspaper column for the StarTribune since 1991, something he’ll continue despite his exit from the airwaves.
Paul Douglas’ last day at the station was Friday, July 26th.
