Spotify acquired The Ringer for $250 million in 2020 and named Simmons the Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization at the parent company.

A report from Ryan Glasspiegel of the New York Post says Bill Simmons is busy trying to work out what his future will look like when his agreement with Spotify ends in early 2025. Spotify acquired The Ringer for $250 million in 2020 and named Simmons the Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization at the parent company.

When the deal with The Ringer was signed, Spotify had been making large investments in podcasting, which included a deal with podcasting superstar Joe Rogan. Rogan signed a second deal with Spotify earlier this year which was said to be worth around $250 million.

Simmons announced the launch of The Ringer on February 17, 2016. The site went live on June 1, 2016.
