After CBS News President Ingrid Ciprian-Matthews stepped down, the network has decided on a two-headed approach to replacing her with Adrienne Roark and Jennifer Mitchell receiving elevations, according to Deadline.
Roark will take responsibility for the editorial and newsgathering of CBS News and Stations. She’ll also oversee the newsgathering teams for CBS News Radio in her role after previously working as the President of Content Development for the outlet.
Mitchell becomes President of Stations and Digital for the network, with her primary focus being on the network’s 27-owned stations. She’ll oversee 23 of the 27.
Both women will continue to report to CBS News President and CEO Wendy McMahon.
McMahon wrote in an internal memo that Roark “will work across the organization to help further develop our news gathering processes while managing all editorial aspects across CBS News. While Adrienne’s focus will be on network news, she will continue to prioritize the integration of our local, global and national teams.”
The President and CEO added that Mitchell “has played a vital role in growing our local streams as they have skyrocketed from fourth to first, collectively, against our same-market competitive over the course of just two years.”
Ciprian-Matthews will remain with the network through the 2024 presidential election as a senior editorial adviser after announcing her exit earlier this year.
