Jeff “Coach” Kidd has stepped down as morning host at Bristol Broadcasting’s Top 40 WVSR (Electric 102.7)/Charleston, WV.
Kidd, who spent nearly 30 years with the station, will continue as a weekend and fill-in host.
Kidd posted on social media, “So here it goes!! For the past 27 years, we have met at the same time, at the same table, drinking coffee and talking about everything. Oh, and some of it was so good, too; entertaining, heartfelt, funny, and, let’s be honest, some just plain ridiculous conversion. I always felt ‘Coach Kidd in the Morning’ was like Cheers or Friends, where we all came together and chilled and hung out. Come this Monday, it’s going to be a little different; I have decided to leave the show and spend as much time as I can with my family. As you know, we adopted our son Christopher John in ‘19, and as Aerosmith sang, “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing!” (I can’t believe he is 5 already.) It literally is about TIME! It’s time for a new season and it’s time to spend more time with CJ and family.
So, on Monday, you’ll tune in and start off your day, but just a little different is all. It’s the same great radio station it has always been and will continue to be. The music, the giveaways, and everything Electric 1027 has brought you for many, many years will continue, and our team here will keep kickin’ tail. I’ll still be around, just not in the mornings. Think of me walking the Earth like Kung Fu (Gen Xers will get that). Radio is all I’ve ever known and is successful because of YOU. Your interactions, your listenership, and your contributions to the show are why Electric 102.7 continues to be successful. I consider myself a lucky man to have sat behind the mic for over nearly three decades.
OK, OK. No reason to get into all the feels on this, everything is peachy, and I can’t wait to see what other blessings and gifts God will put on me and on you. Thank you for the laughs and the support and for choosing to spend your mornings with me for the last 27 years.
No word yet regarding a replacement.
